Tour de France 2016

Although we are still enjoying snow conditions in Chamonix, we are already getting quite excited that the Tour de France is heading our way in July.

As you can see on the map this 103rd edition of the Tour de France is coming to Chamonix. The race begins in Normandy's iconic Mont Saint-Michel and finishes on the Champs-Elysees in Paris. The race, lasting 21 days, consists of 21 stages. In the last 5 days Chamonix will be in the heart of the excitement, with the cyclists battling the mountains of the Haute-Savoie.  

Chamonix as a perfect base 

From 20th till the 23rd July Chamonix will be a perfect base from where you can go and see the cyclists of the Tour de France battling the mountain with a stunning back drop of the Mont Blanc Massive.

For the following stages Chamonix will offer a perfect base:  

  • 20th July - 17th stage - Berne to the edge of the Emosson dam (Martigny). 
  • 21th July - 18th stage - 17km uphill from Sallanches to Megève
  • 22nd July - 19th stage - Albertville to Saint-Gervais-Mont Blanc route (146km distance) 
  • 23rd July - .20th stage - Megeve to  Morzine (another 146km route)

The following day, on the 24th July, the Tour will end at the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
