MAIN / ANNUAL EVENTS
Cosmo Jazz Festival
The Cosmo Jazz Festival is a fantastic music event with concerts set around some of Chamonix's most amazing locations, such as the top of the Aiguille du Midi, Lac Blanc and Grand Montets. Down in the valley it is all about Apérojazz with the streets of Chamonix resonating to the jazzy sounds of brass bands scattered all around town. In the evening musicians gather and play at Cham jam sessions until late in the night.
This summer: 25th July to 2nd August 2015
The North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc
Over the course of three days, participants of the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc cover a total of 168kms, 3 countries, 7 valleys, experiencing a difference in altitude of 9600 meters. A race that tests endurance, fitness, mental and physical strength. Chamonix is the start and finish line but you can cheer on the competitors as they pass through various areas of the course. Each of these areas celebrate the achievement of the runners by holding a fete with concerts, BBQ's and general encouragement.
There is no prize money for the winner because in these types of events everyone who enters is a winner - to enter you need an accumulation of points, which can only be gained by entering various marathons and adventure races in the mountains.
Due to the popularity of this event you must first gain enough points from other endurance events before you can be accepted as an entrant. During the same time there are 3 other trail running events on in and around Chamonix
CCC: Courmayeur - Champex - Chamonix (100km + 5950m elevation gain)
TDS: sur les Traces des Duc de Savoie (119km + 7250m elevation gain)
PTL: La Petite Trotte a Leon (300km + 24000m elevation gain - yes that is nearly 4 Mt Everests!)

End of ski season party – Les Grands Montets
The event that formally says good bye to winter and welcomes in the summer. Les Grands Montets skiing area hosts the event that provides music entertainment, free ride demonstrations, wing suit flying, BBQ and drinks. A great event that gets everyone together for their last few turns.
Fete de Guides de Chamonix – 15th August 2016
Every year the Chamonix valley celebrates the history of its mountain guides and their outstanding achievements. The festival is usually a 4 day event and is put on by the La compagnie des Guides and other event sponsors to raise money and awareness for the guides. It is also a chance to celebrate and remember those who lost their lives on the mountain.
Fete de la Musique
Fête de la Musique is a celebration that takes place every summer on 21st June in cities, towns and villages across France. A free event that is more than a music festival, the Chamonix Fête de la Musique spills out on to the street from every bar and restaurant and encompasses every type of music imaginable, from local amateur teen bands to professional classical musicians, from club DJ’s to traditional folk bands.
Bars get all night licenses as well!
